Our eighth podcast features Miranda O'Bryan. Miranda is a senior double major in journalism and history, and her honors independent study was creating a documentary on the Day in the Life of Freeman project from 26 years ago. Miranda talked to students in the original publication, which featured photos by SDSU journalism students documenting the small town of Freeman, South Dakota on April 20, 1994. Journalism students revisited freeman last spring on the 25th anniversary to do another day in the life project.

Her hobbies include golf and softball. She hopes to work in media relations for major league baseball when she graduates. Mccade and Bea talked with Madison last fall.

Dave has experience as a photojournalist for the Brookings Register and as digital media producer for KDLT-TV. He now works as a freelance photographer specializing in sports. Dave has photographed many SDSU sporting events and often talks to our journalism classes about his experience.

Alex is a South Dakota State University honors alumna with a double major in communication studies and advertising, so one of the first truly “COJO” graduates. She served as the communications chair for the SDSU Students Association and won best presenter at the national level in the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition.

She is a South Dakota State University honors college graduate and former division one track and field athlete. Rachel sat down with her fellow classmates Bea and McCade last fall for this conversation.

This episode of "Coffee with COJO" features visual communication instructor Frank Robertson.
Frank joined the SDSU School of Communication and Journalism in the fall of 2017 as an instructor to teach Intro to Digital Media, Basic Photography, Photojournalism, Advanced Photography, and Advance Multiplatform Storytelling — a course he developed while earning his master’s from the department’s online Master of Mass Communication program the same year.
After receiving his B.A. here in 1995, he spent most of the past 22 years in the newspaper industry as a photojournalist and multimedia editor, working at the Aberdeen American News and Sioux Falls Argus Leader here in South Dakota before spending ten years in southern Ohio at the Chillicothe Gazette, first as a staff photojournalist then eight years as its multimedia editor.
Frank was recognized in 2014 as Distinguished Alumni by the department and has earned dozens of awards for his work throughout his career, earning eight in just his final year at the Gazette which included five 1st Place awards and Best Photographer (Ohio APME Newspaper Awards, Div. I).

This inaugural episode of "Coffee with COJO" features students who worked for ESPN College GameDay last fall.
ESPN College GameDay is a pregame collegiate football program show on Saturday morning during the football season. The program broadcasts live from various college campuses hosting a featured game. On Saturday, October 26th 2019, GameDay broadcast for the first time on the South Dakota State University campus.
This episode, hosted by McCade Ivarsen, focuses on the experiences of three COJO students who worked with the GameDay crew; Tori Berndt, Alex Eigen and Natalie Hilden.
